Another Typical Day!

Massacres meant to scare are serving only to enrage, strengthening the resolve of protest communities throughout the country.

Sunday March 11, 2012

Death toll: 140, 80 in Homs (including 45 women and children slaughtered in Karm Al-Zeitun), 25 in Idlib Province, 5 in Rural Damascus, 5 in Rural Aleppo, and 1 in the cities of Damascus, Lattakia and Deraa.

Op-Eds & Special Reports

Pro-Assad death squads are running amuck in neighborhoods of Old Homs, killing entire families by shooting them point blank or slaughtering them with knives and, at occasions, burning the bodies of the dead. The situation is at its worst in Karm Al-Zeitun and Bab Al-Sibaa neighborhoods where over 45 women and children were targeted , , Burnt bodies Bagging the bodies The man in this video says: people of the world have gotten used to witnessing massacres taking place, it’s like having lunch or dinner for them

The “joke” is that, just before the videos began circulating on the internet and airing on Al-Jazeerah, the media office of the Syrian National Council issued and tweeted a statement saying that “after contacting number of sources on the ground in Homs, all reports and rumors of massacres and rape in Karm Al-Zeitun, Adawiyeh and Bab Dreib, can be confirmed to be untrue. We, therefore, call on all brothers, to verify the reports arriving from Homs and elsewhere, before spreading them, because promoting such blatantly false reports is unnecessary scaremongering and does not serve the Revolution.” But the people in Homs and all through Syria have formed by now a pretty good idea as to what and who is not serving the Revolution.

Indeed, local activist Omar Tellawi, issued a threat and ultimatum to SNC leader Burhan Ghalioun, and his colleagues in the SNC executive committee, giving them a week to call for arming the Free Syrian Army otherwise they will start calling for their ouster (min 1:00) Eyewitnesses descried the men who carried out the slaughter as wearing black armbands  with the word “Ya Ali” on them, the Alawite religious equivalent of “Allahu Akbar” (min 4:40)

Meanwhile, this new video shows another massacre recently perpetrated in Homs City by the pro-Assad death squads. The neighborhood is Jobar

Rebels groups operating in and around Aleppo come together to form the Military Council of the Northern Sector which will manage the operations of the Freemen of the North, the new Brigade that will provide the command structure of the various rebel units in Aleppo Province The council and the brigade will operate under the umbrella of the Free Syrian Army.

In Rastan, Homs Province, pro-Assad militias destroyed the local bridge , effectively trapping locals inside the besieged city and preventing evacuation. The sporadic pounding of the City had started at dawn (min 1:30) , and continued throughout the day (min 1:40) Sounds of gunfire echoes in the distance Impact of pounding

In Idlib City, the pounding left scores of dead and wounded: The pounding drove people out of many neighborhoods As usual by now, mosques were targeted Residential neighborhoods were shelled indiscriminately People try to run every which way, still they get caught in the pounding

Ariha, Idlib Province: Martyrs , Doctors at the local field hospital work hard to save the injured Impact of shelling on a local mosque , People are killed in their homes by mortar rounds And the pounding continues Local resistance members try to fight back and destroy a tank

Leaked Video: Pro-Assad militias dancing on the body of a dead defector while chanting “we are your men Bashar” The first one to speak says: “this is how the Americans want to kills, each one who is a follower of Arour, we will kill him and fuck his sister.” Arour is a Salafi sheikh who  regime propagandists have accused of being one of the masterminds of the revolution, even though he had actually issued a fatwa against it and only switched sides months after its beginning.
